Dealing with betrayal
Who hasn't dealt with the subject of betrayal at some point in their life? "How"do you handle it and exactly "what" makes the people that you love and you think love you act in such a manner? I sure wish I knew the answers to these questions. I think what makes the act of betrayal so devastating is when it comes from family or people whom you have known for so many years that they have become very much a part of your own family, you know what I mean?
Sometimes I feel as if I can totally understand why some people choose to become a completely solitary individual and prefer to stay in their own, safe little world where no one has a chance to hurt you after you have opened up your heart and life to them. As for me, I have pretty much dealt with this most of my life by being naive enough to trust the wrong people. I am finding out that the older I get, the more it hurts each time. Don't know why that is, but it seems to be the case none-the-less.
At any rate, I suppose it is what it is and we just have to simply accept certain realities in life and know that we have tried to be the best person we possibly could be regardless of the outcome. Besides, I know that people can not really continue to betray or use you unless you allow them to.
Oh, dear sister, do I every know what you mean. I have also experienced time and time again these feelings and events. I struggle with this every day and that is why I read and write positive affirmations every morning and evening when I can. The book I talked about at my blog is wonderful and might be something you would like to look into. I'm sure you can check this out at the library just to see. Maybe it will "speak" to you or not, either way I know you will be fine .... I know it's difficult, but keep being positive and the beautiful, kind soul that your are. You are not alone....just call and I'll listen.

Kim, again, what a great post! You are so right about everything you have said! You really touched my heart on this post! And, the one thing I have learned, which you said, people can not continue to betray you or use you, unless you allow them too! Blessings my friend ;o)
