Several years ago, I used this blessing/spell to help my mother’s cat, Snowball, to get better - and thankfully, the Lord and Lady heard my prayer and it surely worked. I also use this particular ritual from time to time for my own pets as well. My husband, although he “claims” to be agnostic ;), has been studying the ancient runes for quite a few years now and gave me the idea to use them in this ritual. If they are sick, I use it as a “spell” and even if they are not, I like to use it as a blessing at Midsummer.
For each you will need:
One 6 inch piece of square black felt
Fur or nail clippings and/or name tag (vaccination tags will also do)
Fabric paint (white) and brush
2 teaspoons of catnip (even if you have a dog or other kind of pet!)
¼ teaspoon garlic
2 teaspoons of dried cedar
One bay leaf
Cotton balls
Thread and needle
One brown candle
Protection Oil (see below)
Protection Oil: 1 part Sandalwood, 1 part Lavender, 1 part Rosemary and 1 part Dragon’s Blood
Fold the piece of black felt in half and sew two sides of it, leaving one side open. On one side of the bag paint your pet’s name and the rune symbols:
= Algiz (rune of protection)
= Eihwaz/Koad (forest rune)
= Sowilo/Sigel (strength)
Pentacle symbol
_________________________________________Let it dry. Then charge the herbs to empower them and pour them into the pouch. Add the pet’s fur, etc. Stuff the rest with the cotton balls to which you have added THREE drops of the Protection Oil. Sew the remaining side of the pouch closed and repeat the following incantation:
“O GRACIOUS LORD AND LADY, PROTECTORS OF ALL CREATURES WHO WALK THIS EARTH, GUARD MY PET (pet’s name) AGAINST HARM AND ILLNESS. WATCH OVER (him/her) WITH EVERY STEP (he/she) TAKES. HELP ME TO PROTECT (him/her) AND STRENGTHEN THE CONNECTION OF LOVE BETWEEN US. LET THIS CHARM BE BLESSED WITH PROTECTION. BLESSED BE!”
Keep the bag in a safe place, perhaps on your altar or where your animal can’t get to it.
oh that you so much for this! I am going to have to do one for Dody. She has been feeling poorly lately. I think age is a factor. She is almost 9 1/2 and they usually live 10-12 years. I don't know what I am going to do when I loose her.....
ReplyDeleteI totally understand your concerns! Especially with Midnight always having so many health troubles. I think you will find this ritual very helpful!
ReplyDeleteLove always to you and to Dody,
Kim
Call it a sign, but as soon as I asked everyone on my FB page to pray for Freedom, and searched and found your page, my husband called to say that my boy is better--he is drinking, wagging his tail, and now walking around. Blees you. Blessed be. )O(
ReplyDeleteAnonymous ~ That is great news! I am glad to hear that! Blessings to you and your Freedom,

My dog sofie has been ill for some time now. She breaks out, looses hair, her ears drain, she gets bad sores, and gets lethargic. We have spent hundreds in vet bills with no results. I am a practicing wiccan, as is my sister. She tried a spell, which helped for a while, but poor sof is sick again. Could this spell help her get healthy and stay healthy? I really want to help my baby! Blessed be.
ReplyDeletewill this work at protection for feral cats if the runes and pentacle are drawn on the inside of their shelters? We're having to move feral cats into a parking lot that is much less safe than where they're getting kicked out of and I'd like some symbols to put on the inside of the cat shelters to protect them and perhaps put harmful people off.....you can email me at cindy at cathaireverywhere com....hugely appreciated!!!
ReplyDeleteMerry Meet!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted you to know that I did receive your comment and request. To answer your question about the symbols, Yes, they will work inside or out. If you like, I can send you another little ritual spell for protection just as soon as I get a chance. I will try to get it to you sometime tomorrow as I am working and not able to get it to you immediately.
Thank you for your comment and interest,
Brightest Blessings,
Lady Caer Morganna

P.S. _ Cindy, your e-mail address did not work for me, please give me a valid one. Thanks!!!
DeleteI will have to do this ritual sometime. My 5 year old cat Luna was just diagnosed with Acute Renal Failure 4 weeks ago. We had her on some fluid therapy at the vet's office and got her started on K/D special brand of cat food. Things were going great, but then she started vomiting and stopped eating. I am scared I'm going to loose her. I will do this ritual very soon we also take her back to the Vet in the morning. Please pray for her! my email is des48@comcast.net thank you!
ReplyDeleteI have 2 cats and 2 dogs....could I do one bag and put all 4 names on it and put their hair clipping into the same bag? my email is turasky@verizon.net
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Shaylee
I lost one of my cats to a drunk running over her and want to protect the other but my parents don't approve so I cant get these kind of supplies.
ReplyDeleteI just started a group over at Facebook...Pagan/Wiccan Prayers For pets....it's in it's infancy so working on the group...but came across your spell here...it's the first I posted to my group...thanks ever for this spell!!!
ReplyDeleteBTW--your all welcomed to join!
I really need to do this spell for my dogs for reasons I do not want to say here. Question: How do you 'charge' the herbs? Pls forgive my ignorance.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.
Anonymous: Charging your herbs does not need to be an elaborate ritual. In fact, it can be extremely simple. For the purposes of this reply, I will give you an example of what I personally do when I am charging herbs or candles as tools for spell work.
DeleteI take the herbs in my hand and while passing them through the incense smoke, I recite the following:
"By the sacred names of the Lord and Lady; by the powers of water, earth, air and fire, by all the virtues of the sun, moon and stars, I now do charge these herbs as a tool for magick."
For more in depth information and resources on this subject, may I suggest reading Scott Cunningham's "Basics of Wicca" section in his book "Complete Book of Incense, Oils & Herbs." I hope this helps you.
Brightest Blessings!
