A new look for an old house

Have you ever felt the need to give your old house a new look? I definitely have and for quite a few years now, I have been looking for a nice quilt to match our rather odd eggplant colored sheer curtains hanging in our bedroom. I have looked everywhere and had found a couple quilts which would have looked good, but I was not willing to pay $800 to $1,000 for one! Yup, we live in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country and it is rather easy to purchase beautiful quilts handmade by the Amish. Although they are rather expensive, I honestly do understand how much work is involved and why they charge as much as they do.

Well, this week I thought that it was worth taking advantage of the Boscov's Department Store's 100th Anniversary sale. After all, you just can't beat 50% off a lot of great, useful items! So, I was very pleased to finally find the long-awaited quilt I was looking for ...

And I also picked up a few other really cool items as well. I bought another quilt to cover our bed for the season of summer ...

A pretty soap dispenser for the bathroom that I can use at Yule ...

A fall rug to put in front of the kitchen door ...

Oh yes, and since I was on a bit of a roll, I decided to go shopping at one of my favorite places ~ A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts for a couple of glass fish-shaped bottles to match my little nautical bathroom. I decorated this one with a silver chain and mermaid charm ...

Of course, the cats couldn't wait to try out the new quilts ... LOL!
