Life changes ...

As the old Gilda Radner character, Roseanne Rosannadanna used to say, "It's always something." Well, she was quite correct indeed! A lot of life changes have come my way so far this early in the new year. First, my family had to deal with my mentally ill brother who has caused much stress on us as you can well imagine if you read my earlier post about it, then came the loss of my beloved Kiki, now the loss of my job of 13 years. They say things happen in THREES so if that is to be believed, I should be golden for a while!

We have not been told the actual date of our last day, only that our job is going away because they are "centralizing" yet another job where I work to another office and that it will be 'sometime before summer'. As far as looking for another job is concerned, we were told that we may leave before we are let go but if we do so we are definitely jeopardizing our severance pay, etc. So until further notice, I will hold off looking for a new job, which no doubt, will be very difficult these days at my age; however, we shall see what happens.

On a different note, I have picked up Kiki's ashes and also the memorable keepsakes which our vet office offers. In addition to her cat urn, I now also have her lovely paw print set in clay and ink ...

In an attempt to get my mind occupied on something else, I have been Amazon.com shopping you might say. I could not resist this gorgeous mermaid locket which I used to place my mom and dad's pictures in ...

Starting over is an extremely scary concept and it is also the second time in 13 years I have had to do it. I remember asking my beloved dad one time a long time ago, "Dad, how do you deal with all life's stressful problems all of the time?" His answer, "Well, I always try to remember that as many problems as I may think that I have, there is always someone else out there with much worse problems that me." My dad was a VERY wise man.

This and That ...

Greetings everyone! It has been a few days since I last posted. I have been busier than usual lately and thought I would let you all in on what I have been up to. First and foremost, I would like to deeply thank all of my dear friends who sent their sincere thoughts and support after we lost our beloved "little Queen." Friday, her beautiful urn I ordered for her ashes came in the mail. We always have our cat urns personalized and I really do love the lovely ones offered on the Perfect Memorials website ...

I also added Kiki's pic to the other side of my locket with Midnight on it ...

I have also recently started a new blog called, "Mermaid Tails and Dragon Treasures" where I plan to feature my personal poetry, decor, collectibles, and such. I still have much to do to it as of yet, but I am working on it. I want it to be my "fun" blog.  :)

Until next time, my friends ~ Brightest Blessings!!

In loving memory of my "Little Queen"

It is with a very heavy heart that we had to have our precious Kiki put to sleep. She had terrible liver failure and, according to our vet, very possibly cancer as well which only would have spread had we tried to keep her going as we were. I do not need to tell you all that I am a complete mess, as it was only a few short months ago that I also lost my baby boy Midnight to lymphoma.

As I always say, Nature ALWAYS has the last word in these matters and to be honest, it is the most helpless feeling there is. I have ordered her a beautiful personally engraved cat urn as we are picking her ashes up in about two weeks or so from the vet.

I also want to thank everyone who sent Kiki their love and prayers. We both greatly appreciated them so much. Goddess bless!

This and That ...

Greetings everyone! Well, looks like my last week's vacation for the year has come to an end ... as always it flew by far too quickly and tomorrow it is back to reality for me! I did get a few things on my to-do list accomplished however. I thoroughly cleaned up the entire upstairs and added some new additions to my little nautical-themed bathroom.  I found a couple of cool items at Bed, Bath & Beyond and also some sale items I came across at Michael's ...

Two framed seashell portraits

A lighthouse that lights up red and green

A hand soap dispenser

A small green and white colored seashell throw rug

And of course I could not help myself to browse one of my favorite sites, Amazon.com. I have been doing a bit more reading on dragons as of late and I found this interesting book called, "Dragonology: The Complete Book of Dragons" written by Dr. Ernest Drake ...

In Chinese (Eastern) astrology, I fall under the category of a Wood Dragon which is kind of odd because in Western astrology I am the sign of Pisces. Interesting concept to me all the same ...

And finally, an update on my Kiki-girl. She is such a little trooper and has really been struggling to eat very much the past couple of days or so. The strange thing is, she only wants to eat the Greenie treats I gave her for Christmas so I am going to try to put her back on her dry food and see what how it goes? Hopefully, she will be able to keep it down. I know it is only a matter of time before we must make that terribly difficult decision to ... well, you know ... but until she tells me with her body language that she is ready, I will not give up on her. Here is a little pic of her playing with her new cat toy ...

Until next time friends ... stay warm and stay safe!

Happy New Year!
