Special Scrapbook for Mom!

This past week, I put together a specially made scrapbook just for my mom. One thing that my mom and I have always shared throughout the years was our love for the beautiful sport of figure skating. And so, using various photos and cutting up some of my old (and newer) figure skating magazines, I came up with this book ...

The late Christopher Bowman ...

Bowman, who earned the nickname, "Bowman the Showman"  was once a child actor on the show, "Little House on the Prairie" until the age of five when he began figure skating and was so "naturally" talented that he became a United States Men's National Champion, United States Men's World Silver & Bronze Medalist, and a two-time American Olympic medal contender!

Olympic Gold Medalist, Kristi Yamaguchi ...

The French brother and sister Ice Dance pair of Paul & Isabelle Duchesnay; Canadian three-time World Champion Kurt Browning ...

American Olympic Pairs Gold Medalists Meryl Davis & Charlie White; The two-time Olympic Russian Pairs husband and wife Champions Ekaterina Gordeeva & Sergei Grinkov ...

Olympic Gold Medalist Evan Lysacek; Michael Weiss; and Olympic Gold Medalist and awesome commentator, Scott Hamilton

Kimmie Meissner; Michelle Kwan

I just need to put a few more finishing touches on it, but I think she will like it, what do you think?  ;)

Close Call

Never a dull moment as they say. Thursday night after I came home from work, hubby and I noticed that our little girl Tabitha was limping.  She was favoring her right front paw. Concerned, I called up our vet immediately, but the earliest they could take her was Friday at 4:30. So, I worked through my hour lunch break in order to leave early, run back home, pick her up, and get her to the vet on time.

Our Lady Tabitha on Thursday night

When I got home, Tabitha, to my surprise, had stopped limping and was jumping up and down on the sofa! After giving it a bit of thought, I decided to keep the vet appointment anyway, but instead of taking Tabitha I took Kiki since her sneezing fits and breathing had gotten worse and we would have had to make another appointment for her as well. She was diagnosed with allergy issues about a month ago and our vet told us to give her over the counter antihistamines; however, they hadn't appeared to be doing much for her.

This time, the vet prescribed 10 mg of hydroxyzine, twice a day. If that doesn't work, she will have to be tested for polyps in her sinuses. We are keeping our fingers crossed that is not the case! If it is, they will have to be removed ~ a very expensive procedure which we definitely can not afford at this time.

Change of subject  ... tomorrow night hubby and I are taking my in-laws out for a birthday dinner for my father-in-law at a nice little place called, "Kyma Seafood Grill" located in Stevens, PA.

I was working on a few more fall decorations and made this one for my mother-in-law (whom I call my second "mom") which I am planning on surprising her with tomorrow before we leave for dinner ...

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone!!!

Throwback Thursday ~ Musical Memories!

Good day all! For this week's 'Throwback Thursday' I thought that I would post a couple of great vids from my teen years. I have always been a huge fan of the old SNL casts, most especially "The Not Ready for Prime Time Players."

Garrett Morris, Jane Curtin, John Belushi, Lorraine Newman, Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner, & Bill Murray

Here is a clip of John Belushi and Danny Aykroyd singing "Soul Man" as The Blues Brothers and Belushi's excellent rendition of Joe Cocker's "A Little Help From My Friends."

Hope you enjoy!!!

This and That ...

What's new? Well, only a couple of things actually. Last Tuesday I had to have oral surgery as my last tooth on my top right-hand side had to be pulled. Long story short, the oral surgeon who had done my root canal had taken an x-ray before she began and had noticed that my last tooth aside of the root canal tooth had some decay and, fortunately, she sent the x-ray to my dentist. My dentist advised me to have the bad tooth pulled before it compromises my root canal work. He was right. The oral surgeon (whom I have always gone to over the years and not actually the same one who performed my root canal) extracted the bad tooth on Tuesday and added, "That was a good call. You have really good doctors. Trust me, you won't miss that tooth, it had a very bad infection in it!"

So much for long story short, but my oral surgeon is absolutely wonderful and did a great job. I had a local, felt no pain at all either during or after the procedure. And, since I had taken a vacation day anyway and had some of the afternoon left, I stopped off at the local mall on the way home and picked up this little treasure ...

I have it hanging up on the bathroom wall near the doorway. I also bought a nice long, crocheted dress which was on sale as well ... very comfortable.

And lastly, our vet had to up the dosage on our cat Leo's medication as it was way too low to be of any use. He had been prescribed amitripyline last month by our vet for his stress and aggression issues. He was only getting a 1/2 pill per day, with absolutely no improvement what-so-ever. I spoke to Dr. Heather and she upped it to a 1/2 pill in the AM and a whole one before bedtime. So far, it has helped a great deal. Leo is much happier, and, so is the rest of the family!

A Countdown to Mabon Giveaway?

Greetings, my friends! Well, it is almost that time of the year again. The  fall/autumn equinox is my absolute favorite time of the season and I was thinking that I might like to have a Wiccan Life Countdown to Mabon Giveaway for those blog members who would perhaps be interested. I was thinking of maybe two small autumn wreaths and/or a small MacIntosh Apple scented candle? I would certainly be open to any ideas or suggestions.

I will only; however, host this giveaway if there is enough of an interest in my doing so. Therefore, anyone who thinks that they might be interested in participating, please let me know by leaving a message in the comment section of this post.

Many Blessings!

An Old Friend and One Beautiful Lady

Quite a few years ago, one of my good friends invited my hubby and I out to a bar to see and hear this really great local rock band called, "Kings & Queens." My friend said, "You gotta hear this band and the lead singer, Donna, reminds me so much of you. She talks about Wicca and she is "into" a lot of the same things as you. You just have to meet her!"

So when we arrived, my friend introduced me to the lead guitarist and singer, a really cool gal named Donna Nye. Donna and I had an instant connection and we immediately began talking to each other about this and that. We kept in contact throughout the years in spite of her very busy schedule. I visited her home from time to time and went to see her perform with her band whenever possible.

A pic of me 'n' Donna a few years ago showing off our new outfits at one of her shows. The top I was wearing looked much better on her and so I eventually gave it to her to wear  ~ LOL!

Donna, who is an extremely talented musician in her own right,  has written, arranged and recorded well over 100 songs that have been inspired by angelic vibration. In Donna's own words, "When I was writting these songs in that three year period, I wrote, arranged and recorded non stop. I'd be up at 3am with headphones on dancing around in the kitchen while I was doing the dishes listening to what I wrote and recorded that day. I would record for 8 hours straight. I was connected with something higher at that time and still am."

One of my fav pics of Donna. Just beautiful!

It comes as no surprise to me that Donna is also a reiki practitioner and, like me, she loves her fur babies! I feel very blessed to be able to count her as one of my friends. She is indeed a special woman and a beautiful individual to know. Thank you, Donna, for your wonderful friendship.
