This and That ...

Greetings, friends! My apologies for not keeping up with my blog and other blogs posts. On Easter Day my husband's uncle passed away and my hubby is in New Jersey today for the funeral. My MIL was supposed to go along with him, but apparently she fell yet again yesterday at home so she is currently still in the hospital. She is very fortunate that she did not break anything this time - smh.

Moving on, we were given flowers to plant from work for Earth Day last week. I picked out these two ...

Petunias ...

and a pot of yellow Pansies ...

I finally tried a new product that I bought at the "Ulta Beauty" store a couple of weeks back. It is from a cosmetic brand called "Rabanne" and it is a silver glitter mascara that goes on over top of your preferred mascara (colored or not). These are swatches - the left side is Clinique's "Massive Midnight" shade and on the right is ColourPop's "Sugar Pie" peach color using the glitter topper ...

In loving memory of Uncle Frank ...
This photo was taken back in 2010 on my in-laws cruise to Hamilton, Bermuda to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary! Left to right - my MIL, my FIL, Uncle Frank, Aunt Stefanie - "Steffy" (his late wife), me, and my hubby. I truly miss THEM BOTH!!!

Weekend happenings

Greetings, friends! Well, it is finally beginning to feel a bit more like spring the past couple of days here. The weather was beautiful over the weekend with temps in the 60's and 70's. Not too hot, not too cold.

Saturday afternoon, I spent the day working on cleaning up the attic and the basement. What a mess! I still have so much more to do but at least I took a bite out of it! My husband also surprised me with these pretty Spring flowers ...

Then, Saturday evening, we went to the VFW for dinner and drinks. I decided to donate the decorative flower pot to them that I gave my mom for her last birthday. I just did not want to deal with the bad memory of that being the last thing I ever gave her for her birthday before she passed away ...

Yesterday, my husband and I spent the day with his cousin and her family having a lovely Easter dinner. I brought along a "goodie bag" of Reese's Peanut Butter cups, a little decorative Spring garden flag with two cute little bunnies in a basket, and these holiday cookies from "The Mint Leaf" ...

I also found these matching heart earrings to go along with my Sugar Pie peach colored mascara ...

Have a good week all!!

This and That

Greetings all. In case you have been wondering where I have been lately, they are forcing (yes, forcing) 8 to 10 hours of mandatory overtime on me at my job for at least the next few months. Yup, we don't work hard enough so they feel the need to work us to death not only during the week BUT every single Saturday now! I truly hate it, but no choice since I  have had no luck with finding another job at my age. At any rate, I have not had much time to do anything that I enjoy including posting on my blogs.

Moving on, I decided to take a PTO day yesterday to try and get SOME things done. One of the things I did was drop off these Sterilite containers at the Sinking Spring VFW. They were giving them out at work for some reason - I assume because they purchased them and no longer have a use for them? So, I donated them ...

The last stop I made yesterday was at Boscov's Department Store and bought these pretty pieces of jewelry on sale ...

And, I found a new shade of mascara - ColourPop limited addition "Roar!" ...

Well, now off to work - UGH!!!!

Have a good weekend everyone!

R.I.P. Val Kilmer ...

"Real Genius" - one of my favorite Val Kilmer flicks!

"Top Gun", "The Doors", "Tombstone", and "Batman Forever"

For nearly 10 years prior to filming production of Oliver Stone's "The Doors", the project went through development hell after being considered by many studios and directors. Several actors, including Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Timothy Hutton, Steven Bauer, Gregory Harrison, Christopher Lambert, Michael Ontkean, Jason Patric, John Travolta and Richard Gere, were each considered for the role of Morrison when the project was still in development over the years, with Bono of U2 and Michael Hutchence of INXS also expressing interest in the role. Stone initially offered the role to Ian Astbury of the Cult, who declined the role because he was not happy with the way Morrison was going to be represented in the film. When Stone began talking about the project in 1988, he had Val Kilmer in mind to play Morrison, after seeing him in the Ron Howard fantasy film Willow. Kilmer had the same kind of singing voice as Morrison and, to convince Stone that he was right for the role, spent several thousand dollars of his own money and made his own eight-minute audition video, singing and looking like Morrison at various stages of his life. To prepare for the role, Kilmer lost weight and spent six months rehearsing Doors songs every day; the actor learned 50 songs, 15 of which are actually performed in the film. Kilmer also spent hundreds of hours with the Doors' producer Paul A. Rothchild, who related "anecdotes, stories, tragic moments, humorous moments, how Jim thought ... interpretation of Jim's lyrics". Rothchild also took Kilmer into the studio and helped him with "some pronunciations, idiomatic things that Jim would do that made the song sound like Jim". Kilmer also met with Krieger and Densmore but Manzarek refused to talk to him. When the Doors heard Kilmer singing they could not tell whether the voice was Kilmer's or Morrison's
