Throwback Thursday: Speaking of Ouija Boards ...

As I have said to you in a previous post, ouija boards are definately not a game ~ no matter what Parker Brothers tries to sell you! Seriously though, I can not stress that enough! That being said; however, I very seldom, if ever, use the ouija board for any reason. One of the few times I have ever turned to it, was due to a very bizarre circumstance. The following is in fact a true story and, for me, a deeply personal one.

In my post, "Spiritually Lifting Experience," I mentioned my ex-fiance, Mike, to whom I was engaged to for 5 years. Long story short, we broke up under pretty nasty circumstances. As fate would have it, about 7 years later I had a "nagging" feeling out of nowhere that I needed to make my peace with this ~ with him. And so I had arranged for he & I to meet up again through a mutual friend and we "talked it out and made things right" so to speak.

Mike & I  ~ my 22nd birthday (1986)

On Easter Sunday of that same year, he was taking flying lessons from a guy we both went to school with who just happened to own his own business as a Flight Instructor. They were in a private little plane which, due to mechanical problems, crashed in a field near Virginville, PA (not too far from Reading). Both he and the instructor died on impact of internal injuries.

A few weeks later after the funeral, Mike appeared to me in a dream. In my dream, he was walking around in a strange house (one I've never seen before~perhaps it was the house in which he last lived?). The house was filled with a bunch of people which included myself. However, I was the only one who could actually see him ~ no one else could. I remember him being very confused and distraught. He could not understand why I was the only one who was able to see him. In the dream, he kept saying to me, "Help me! Help me!"

This dream continued to haunt me for quite a few days and I could not for the life of me figure out what it really meant? Was I, myself, so distraught that I was beginning to have nightmares about him? Then it came to me, it is not unusual for someone who has died rather traumatically and/or suddenly to not actually know that they have died. I spoke to the only other Wiccan, and friend, that I knew at the time ~ Willow. Although I hesitated, I asked her if she would help me consult the ouija board to find out how I could help him.

We set up the board and took the necessary precautions to protect ourselves from any "uninvited" guests. We cast a magickal circle and called the corners, using blessed and consecrated water and sealed the circle with salt. As we began, I asked the board questions to which only Mike and I knew the answers to. Then, only after I was satisfied that it was indeed him, I asked him what he wanted from me, what could I do? Again, as in my dream, the board spelled out the words, "Help me!" Willow turned to me and said, "You need to tell him to cross over. He's lost!" I knew she was right ~ and I did just that. Before he left, I assured him that I would see him again someday and that I loved him. He then replied that he loved me and then said "goodbye" to me. It felt as if I had lost him all over again, but I knew it needed to be done! Both Willow and I broke down into tears afterwards. Needless to say, it was all a bit overwhelming ~ even for her eventhough she never had the chance to meet him at all. Her fiance then, now husband, had walked through the door just as we were wrapping up, saw us on the floor crying and said, "My God, what happened here?"

I knew in my heart that I was meant to meet up with Mike again for some reason or another ~  just didn't understand "why" at the time. It became apparent to me later on that the Goddess and God wanted us to make our peace before he died. I am so very grateful now that I had that chance. Since he was born on October 30, every year on Samhain I make sure to honor his memory. This, by the way, was the very last time that I actually used the ouija board for any reason.

The Mermaid Lover ~ a seasonal poem

The following is a poem I had written about the ghost of a man who fell in love with a mermaid and, since he could not live underneath the water with her nor could she live on the land with him, he decided he would rather drown than live without her. So every year on the eve in which he died, he comes back to see her once again, if only for a night ...

The Mermaid Lover

The moonlight strikes her long blonde hair
She calls to him, "Tis my love there"?
On shore she sits upon a rock
And waits for him to sail the loch

He travels so far for her sweet touch ~
His mermaid yearns for him so much
Crooning for him her ballad of love
And guides his way like stars above

"I'd drown for you, my love, he said
to spend enternity in your sea bed,
For death is sweet forever with thee ~
Our love transcends the land and sea"

She knows come morn as day draws near
Her star-crosseed lover must disappear
Leaving her behind hence another year
To pine for his love, so true and so dear

Dallas, TX ... and an anniversary (second post for today)

Last week was my 19th wedding anniversary. Brett was in Dallas, Texas on a week of training his company sent him for. While he was there, he snapped a few pics of Dealey Plaza - yes, that's right, the site where JFK was assassinated on that fateful day back in November 22, 1963. I can not stand politics and I am NOT prone to conspiracy theories; however, this particular subject held a strong fascination/curiousity for me and years back I read SEVERAL books on it. Most of the books were written by the parties whom were actually tied to the Kennedy assassination in some way. My reading list was vast and very interesting indeed. The following photos were taken at the motorcade route and the book depository.

The grassy knoll.

Brett also took this litte video with his camera standing in the exact spot where Abraham Zapruder filmed his historical footage that day.

"The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza"...

Souvenirs from the museum ...

The fur babies were happy to see their Cat Daddy's return home last night ...

Anniversary week - past ...

19 years later ...

Later on that evening, we grabbed a couple of drinks and snacks at a local place located behind our house called, "The Van Reed Inn" ...

And so it begins ... (first post for today)

Happy Sunday all! Yesterday it was a humid and rainy Fall day. My sister Aurora Skye and I ventured out for a bit of shopping and a nice lunch. One of the places we frequented was the cool shop located just down the road from where I live called, "The Mint Leaf" ...

The Mint Leaf is one of the businesses that was actaully "allowed" to stay open all along due to the fact that they sell bath and wellness products.

Among a few of the other items they sell are (all handmade by small local businesses - I truly LOVE that!) are clothing, jewelry, crafts/decorations, desserts, soaps, shampoos, etc. These are some of the awesome things I purchased while there ...

A decorative Halloween pillow.

A tie dye dress.
These pretty earrings.

There is also another store owned and operated by The Mint Leaf called, "The Stinkleberry" which was all appropriately decorated with pumpkins, scarecrows and such for the season ...
Aurora having some fun with the cute scarecrow!

The special handmade soaps which I bought. The Halloween gel soaps are adorning my bathroom.

We also decided to stop off at our local "Barnes & Noble" bookstore where I picked up a couple of new books ...

We had lunch our favorite establishment - "Flanagan's Pub" ...

"Cheers!" to Mabon and the Autumn Equinox!!

We shared some delicious Philly Cheesesteak eggrolls ... 💓

After we got back from shopping, we had some of Chef Jesenia's pumpkin spice whoopie pies and her strawberry swirl cheescake ... fabulous!

Every year, Aurora brings me a few of her beautiful pumpkins which she grows in her own backyard ... LOVE THEM!! 💕

Miss Ginger getting some lovin' from her Auntie Aurora ... 😻

A very special day indeed!

HAVE WONDERFUL DAY!! 💚💛💜

(Just an added note to my friends and followers:

Since the "new and sucky" Blogger has darkened my pathway, I CAN NO LONGER get my blog roll links to WORK so I have to try to look for a comment that one of you has already left on one of my posts and use YOUR link in order to get to your blogs! Anyway, if you have noticed that I have not been commenting on your blogs as of late, THAT is the reason why! 😖)

Throwback Thursday: The Astrology Poem

I have loved astrology ever since my mother first introduced me to it as a teenager. I found the following poem in one of my many astrology books. I love it! ...

Who works from mourn to set of sun,
And never likes to be outdone?
Whose walk is almost like a run?
Who? Aries.

Who smiles through life - except when crossed?
Who knows, or thinks he knows the most?
Who loves good things - baked, boiled or roast?
Oh, Taurus.

Who's fond of life and jest and pleasure?
Who vacillates and changes ever?
Who loves attention without measure?
Why, Gemini.

Who changes like the changeful season?
Holds fast and lets go without reason?
Who is there can give adhesion -
To Cancer?

Soon as the evening shades prevail,
The Moon takes up the wondrous tale
And nightly to the listening Earth,
Proclaims the story of her birth

Who critizes all she sees?
Yes, even would analyze a sneeze
Who hugs and loves her own disease?
Humpf, Virgo.

Who praises all his kindred do?
Expects his friends to praise them, too -
And can not see their senseless view?
Ah, Leo.

Who puts you off with promise gay?
And keeps you waiting half the day?
Who compromises all the way?
Sweet Libra.

Who keeps an arrow in his bow?
And if you prod, he lets it go,
A fervent friend and subtle foe -
Scorpio.

Who loves the dim, religious light?
Who always keeps a star in sight?
An optimist both gay and bright -
Sagittarius.

Who climbs and schemes for wealth and place?
And mourns his brothers' fall from grace?
But takes what's due in any case -
Safe Capricorn.

Who gives to all a helping hand?
But bows his head to no command -
And higher laws doth understand
Aquarius.

Who prays and serves and prays some more?
And feeds the beggar at the door?
And weeps over love lost long before -
Poor Pisces.

BLESSED MABON AND HAPPY FALL ALL!

Painted Leaves

Colored bed beneath my feet,
The crisp, fresh air grows cool;
Painted leaves adorn the Earth,
All under Modron's rule

Aging Goddess; powerful, wise
Autumn's picture, Nature's guise
Celebration of beauty,
 the wheel turns on;
With painted leaves ~
'tis Blessed Mabon!

Last weekend was absolutely gorgeous fall weather! I worked on Saturday but ...
