Getting ready for Spring!

Yesterday, my sister Aurora Skye and I ventured out for a bit of Spring shopping. We went to our local Yankee Candle Store and I found three large jars, a new Luma Lid for them, and a Spring Bunny votive candle holder ...

Another place we stopped off at was Barnes & Noble Bookstore. We are always looking for what clearance books and such that they have on sale. I picked up this really GOOD Chinese Astrology book for only $5.00! 

I was born in the Year of the Dragon - specifically, I am a Wood Dragon. I found it QUITE interesting that a lot of the information regarding my sign aligned almost perfectly with my Western Astrology sign of Pisces!

I could not resist buying this adorable Game of Thrones bookmark!

Another really cool book I bought was, "The Essential Dream Journal" ...

This journal has lots of pages filled with detailed questions and great ways to keep track of your dreams!

I still have to finish decorating my house with my Spring things, but for today, I am still working on my Spring cleaning. I finally bought a set of drawers at "Staples" to replace the three small ones I have been using for my office supplies.

Greetings friends! One of the things that my sister and I enjoy about getting together is frequenting a few of our favorite shoppes around town. And last Saturday before our ritual ceremony was no exception.

One of our stops was at our favorite Wiccan and new age supply shoppes, Celtic Myth & Moonlight where I used one of my awesome birthday presents from my friend Kiki and my god-daughter Kyli - a $10.00 gift certificate.

A lovely brand new book called, "Sea Magic" written by Sandra Kynes ...

A pretty short-sleeved dress with a matching shawl that reminds me a lot of autumn. I really love the color, cut, and the print of this dress ...

Since the stores owner, Dot just recently stocked up on more handcrafted votive candles, I bought a few more while I was there. Goddess, I love this store!
 
And at Barnes & Noble I found a bargain table book on astrology ...

For those of you who are like me and have been following the HBO series, "Game of Thrones," there is a special issue of Entertainment Magazine showcasing the show. If you are a huge fan of this awesome series, you know that this will be the final season - bummer! I also bought the book, "Fire and Blood" for 30% off at Target.

A song for Sunday ... and other stuff

Greetings, friends! There is not much happening here since the snow storm - been pretty sunny, cold, and calm and tomorrow they say it is back to rain again here. Yesterday, I went shopping with my mom for her yearly Boscov Days that is a three day long benefit in which both current and retired employees like my mom can enjoy a wonderful double discount (meaning she gets both her normal employee discount on top of any items already on sale). She uses her Boscov's card and charges everything on it for Christmas gifts and if I buy anything for myself or for my own gifts for others, I pay her whatever I owe of what she put on her card when we get home from shopping. This is a blessing, especially this year!

I also began (to keep my mind occupied) putting away some of my fall decorations and replacing them with a few winter/Yule stuff. I usually wait until Black Friday to do this as I never venture out in the insanity that is holiday shopping, but I needed to keep my mind busy lately. BTW, strangely enough, this is my horoscope for today:

I’ve been having a little fun with astrology lately! I think almost everyone is familiar with the zodiac and the Sun sign affirmations, but do you know what your sign “motto” is? Amongst my many books on astrology, there’s one called, “The Hidden Zodiac” by Sasha Fenton. In it, there is a section which breaks down our Sun sign mottos as well as the sign affirmations. So, here goes:

Most of the astrology books which I have read discuss the usual criteria – your sign’s ruling planet, house, element, polarity, quality, body parts, virtues, etc. This book also talks about other aspects of your sign such as your Major and Minor Arcana tarot cards and your Sun sign “type.” There are two sign types – mental (Air and Earth) and emotional (Water and Fire). The emotional signs, “Act on emotions before thinking” and the mental signs, “Think before acting on emotions.” Of course, astrology and all of its aspects is much more complex than this, but I love the “tongue-in-cheek” humor all the same.

Greetings everyone! Well, looks like my last week's vacation for the year has come to an end ... as always it flew by far too quickly and tomorrow it is back to reality for me! I did get a few things on my to-do list accomplished however. I thoroughly cleaned up the entire upstairs and added some new additions to my little nautical-themed bathroom.  I found a couple of cool items at Bed, Bath & Beyond and also some sale items I came across at Michael's ...

And of course I could not help myself to browse one of my favorite sites, Amazon.com. I have been doing a bit more reading on dragons as of late and I found this interesting book called, "Dragonology: The Complete Book of Dragons" written by Dr. Ernest Drake ...

In Chinese (Eastern) astrology, I fall under the category of a Wood Dragon which is kind of odd because in Western astrology I am the sign of Pisces. Interesting concept to me all the same ...

And finally, an update on my Kiki-girl. She is such a little trooper and has really been struggling to eat very much the past couple of days or so. The strange thing is, she only wants to eat the Greenie treats I gave her for Christmas so I am going to try to put her back on her dry food and see what how it goes? Hopefully, she will be able to keep it down. I know it is only a matter of time before we must make that terribly difficult decision to ... well, you know ... but until she tells me with her body language that she is ready, I will not give up on her. What sign are you attracted to?

If you were to venture to guess, what sign would you perhaps consider your “Achilles heel”? You know, your “weakness”? That one man or woman whom you tend to be attracted to like a strong magnet over and over again without benefit of even knowing what astrological Sun sign they are when you first meet them?

Oddly enough, I have noticed that, for me, those persons have always been under the Sun sign of Scorpio. Or, maybe not so strange after all if you are a Pisces such as myself? I swear to you … in my case, all of my biggest mistakes have been my serious relationships with a Scorpio man … each and every time. Even if their astrological birth chart only showed the sign of Scorpio in the planet of Venus (go figure, Venus represents love & sensuality), the result was the very same ~ complete and total attraction! I couldn’t say “exactly” what it is about them other than their unbelievably striking facial features, or perhaps it is merely their intense sexuality? In any case, it appears that I was destined to have them in my life as friends and only friends. No offense to any Scorpio’s out there, but it would seem that I am far too sensitive a Pisces woman for the sometimes very cold and cruel Mr. Scorpio. Again, no offense to any of the Scorpio men out there, I am merely speaking from my own personal experience in regards to this subject matter.

Now, I have been with my hubby, a mutable Sagittarius, for 21 years now and am not nor have I ever truly wished to look elsewhere. Once again, I am only speaking from my own personal long past experience with the sign of Scorpio. As far as Sagittarius men and I are concerned; however, I feel there is something to be said for both being of a mutable sign. Sometimes, it is much easier to spend your life with someone who is, in my opinion anyway, fairly easy-going and is able to see your side of various issues as well as their own. It is also worth noting that, the only Gemini man (also a mutable sign) whom I have ever dated in my life was extremely fair with me in every way ~ not surprising though if you consider the fact that communication and talking things out is supposed to be one of their attributes.

"Spiritual Astrology": Book Review

I actually first found this book at a bargin bookstore many years ago and have utilized it quite often over the years. Personally speaking, I really love this book written by Jan Spiller and Karen McCoy.

"Spiritual Astrology" is a very resourceful book to have on your shelf if you wish to learn about the specifics of the astrological signs and how they affect your life and individual personality. It includes an extensive section full of birth year charts which allows you to look up each of your planets for your personal astrological graph. The only problem is that due to the fact that this book is rather old (it was published in 1988) the charts only go up to the year 1980. But, still in all a terrific book! Love it!
