TBT: A Family Affair - Our Mabon Celebration!



 

My sister Aurora Skye and I had decided to get together a little early for our ritual celebration. I re-vamped my solitary Mabon ritual so that it would work for two people and we kept it fairly simple and intimate.

 

The ceremony included the usual elements ~ casting the circle, calling of the corners, invocations of the Lord and Lady, meditation, blessing of the wine and bread, etc. After which we thanked all of the deities, closed our ritual, opened the circle, and remembered to give back to the Earth.

I made a couple of head wreaths for us to wear during ritual.

 

Aurora brought along four mini pumpkins which she grows herself in her backyard. We placed two on our altar and set the other two around a couple of the corner candles.
 

In the old days after my fellow solitary friends and I would gather for sabbat rituals, we would eat, drink, talk and be merry for the remainder of the evening. These days; however, Aurora and I much preferred to spend some sister time together by hanging out and perhaps doing a little shopping. As much as I really love having a house full of friends and family, sometimes it is nice to just simply relax and enjoy the day!

Our 25th Wedding Anniversary & Blessed Autumn Equinox!

Today is the 25th Anniversary of our legal handfasting ceremony! My hubby surprised me with these little gifts after I arrived home from work tonight ...

Fall/Autumn bouquet.

And, a jewelry set of amethyst (my birthstone), genuine pearl, and larimar set in 99.9% sterling silver (my personal preference over gold) ...

We will be celebrating this coming weekend!

We got married on Mabon (Autumn Equinox) way back on September 22, 2001 and it is now our 25th wedding anniversary on Mabon! 💕

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon with my sister at the annual Fall Fest in West Reading. It was crowed and a bit too hot and humid out so I just picked up a couple of cool items while we were there.

Weekend Happenings

Happy weekend everyone! I took a well-needed break from my cray life and my sister Aurora Skye and I spent a couple of hours getting out and about today. We had lunch and decided to go check out what new seasonal goodies "Murdough's Christmas Barn" had to offer. 

Earlier in the week, I picked up a pretty little top at "The Mint Leaf" to go with a cool skirt I also bought there a few months ago. Now, all I need to do is lose about 25 pounds in order to look presentable in them  Not as easy as it sounds however ...

One of the reasons that I wanted to frequent Murdough's is because I am "chomping at the bit" for AUTUMN to arrive!!! So much so that I started to put away my summer décor and bring out a few of my Fall/Mabon decorations ...  

Back to the crockpot slow cooking a pot roast for tomorrow's dinner ...

And ... DONE!

 I have made two new oil lamps for the Fall season. This time; however, I enlisted a little help from my hubby who used to make them way back when we sold them at craft shows for our eclectic Pagan group, "O.P.E.N. (Old Paths Enlightener's Network)."

They are so easy to make. All you need is a Mason Jar with a hole in the center of the lid (sold at your local "A.C. Moore" Store), a bottle of clear lamp oil, a wick, and some silk leaves and/or flowers (or whatever you would like to use to decorate the inside of your jar). You can even add fragrance oil to them as well i.e. spice scents, etc.

I also found a cute little orange glass bottle to use for our Samhain ritual in October. The bottom reminded me of a pumpkin.

Mix and stir and blend it so ...

Some quick and easy blends for your Mabon celebration!

Mabon Incense

2 parts sandalwood

2 parts pine

1 part rosemary

1 part cinnamon

1 part dried apple

(Mix all together and burn loosely in your cauldron.)

Mabon Oil

This oil activates the magickal energies of prosperity and abundance using pure essential oils only …

5 drops patchouli

6 drops sage

3 drops myrrh

2 drops rose

A pinch of dried or fresh white sage 

Fill a bottle halfway with oil. Add water until bottle is three quarters full. Add your mixed essential oils and then blend with the dried ingredients. Shake bottle well before using. This Mabon oil is great for anytime you wish to perform any type of prosperity spells as well as your Mabon rituals.

This and That

Brightest Blessings, friends! Well, it has been yet another crazy week and this week promises to be JUST as busy. Last week, I was finally able to pay off my "used" 2009 Honda Civic ... YAY! Hubby took it for a much-needed bath at the local car wash ... 🚗

We had a nice little surprise at a work meeting on Wednesday night. We were told that associates such as myself are going to be getting a 10% pay increase based on our current individual salaries. The reason for this is to compensate for the fact that the new hires are already starting out at the same pay rate as those of us who have been working there a lot longer! In addition to that, we will also be receiving a raise for our shift differential - 2nd and 3rd shifts only. Not sure what that will be as of yet, but more information is forth-coming. We were also told that the pay raise and shift differential are in addition to our annual merit increase. 

I had a chance to begin reading one of my new books that I had purchased two weeks ago. I find the subject of numerology very interesting and I have a couple of other books that I have read in regards to it. This book is pretty good actually!

Around the Corner: Countdown to Mabon!

Getting so excited! My favorite season of fall is just around the corner. My hubby and I wed in a legal Handfasting on Mabon/Autumn Equinox of 2001. Believe it or not, it really wasn't planned that way. We both wished to get married in September and the only Saturday my dear friend and Wiccan High Priestess could officiate for us happened to be on Mabon of that year. I am convinced that it was definately meant to be!

I'd like to share with you all a poem I had written this past Spring for a blogger friend of mine who lives in the Southern Hemisphere and therefore celebrates Mabon while we Wiccans and Pagans alike living in the Northern parts are celebrating Imbolg and Ostara. I hope you enjoy it!

Painted Leaves

 

Colored bed beneath my feet,

The crisp, fresh air grows cool;

Weekend happenings ...

Greetings all, I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I decided to stay home and stay cool on Saturday and began putting away my Summer and Beltane decorations and brought out just a few of my seasonal things.

Today, we took "the moms" out to Cracker Barrel for dinner. Of course, I had to check out the new holiday items they had available ..,
