Good times, Special friends!

Blessed Sunday, all! I hope you had a pleasant weekend. I had a memorable one. While my husband and I were having dinner and drinks at the Sinking Spring VFW Saturday night, I saw a former classmate and we chatted and caught up on things since we graduated back in 1983. We are Facebook friends, but this was the first time I had actually seen her since our High School days ...

What made my weekend even more special was I had a long overdue chance to get together with my co-worker and former trainer at my job, Jesenia. She is currently working a third shift job in another department and I am atill on second shift so it is very difficult to find the time for us to hang out. Today, we were finally able to enjoy a day together at her new house ...

Of course "Chef" Jesenia treated me to my favorite meal - rosemary chicken, potatoes, and green beans ... 💜

And for dessert, she made a delicious pumpkin spice bread with raisins ...

One of her two sons, (whom I call my adopted son) Louis also joined us - he is most definitely Jesenia's "mini me" and loves to cook, He, just like his mom, is happiest when working and creating meals in the kitchen! I just adore this kid! ...

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Ain't no mountain high enough!

Blessed Saturday, everyone!! I have some rather exciting news. Moose's mommy and daddy "tied the knot" this past week. They flew to Yosemite National Park in CA to get married. They are avid hikers and are very involved in running races so this was their dream wedding. The ceremony was held on a mountain top and Renee and Jon shared some of their wedding pics on her FB page two days ago.  Friends, these are breath-takingly gorgeous! ...

So very happy for them and I wish them all the best! CONGRATULATIONS, MR. & MRS. JON JAMES!

Food for Thought Friday

Please, don’t look back 5 years from now & have to admit that you spent an entire year of your life wearing a mask, cooped up in your house & avoiding all the people you love. A year in your life that you’ll never get back.

And let me say this, I am not saying this virus isn’t real, or that there aren’t people that could really be affected. If you’re at risk, take precautions, absolutely. Every single day is a risk. Car accident, flu... our days were numbered before this. That has not changed.

BUT, we should not be forced to live in fear. We went from being a free nation to being told we couldn’t go to school, couldn’t go to church, couldn’t go to our grandmamas house, couldn’t pay respects to a loved one through a funeral.... and when we were allowed to do these things, we were told how long we could be there, how far apart we have to be, what to wear...

Yes, our health matters. But you know what else matters? Family. Friends. Church. School dances. Football games. County fairs. Family vacations. Neighborhood BBQs. Life.

One day, you’ll hug your grandma, mom, dad, brother for the last time. One day, your best friend will cry on your shoulder for the last time. One day, your son will play his last football game. One day, your daughter will wear her last prom dress. One day, they’ll have their last day of school. One day, you’ll spend your last day laughing with your Mama. One day, you’ll dance your last dance.
Don’t waste the days you have by living in fear.

Your time here on earth matters & God didn’t put us here to be afraid of everything He’s blessed us with. Live your life while you have the chance. God is gonna call you home when it’s your time. Virus or no virus.

Throwback Thursday: That's What Friends Are For

I’ve known Fran, a.k.a. Lady Sabrina Rhiannon, for about 22 years now. I first met her while working for the same insurance company back in 1999. She is a Reiki Master/Teacher of Usui Shiki Rhyoho and Shamballa Multidimensional Healing, a nondenominational Minister for the ULC and a Registered Nurse whose specialty is OB/GYN-Maternal Childcare. She is also the High Priestess of her Eclectic Wiccan group, “The Coven of the Silver Moon Circle.”

I consider her my High Priestess and the Pagan clergy to whom I can turn to when needed, she is my Reiki Master, my confidant and my close friend. Goddess knows, we have seen each other through some good times and bad through these many years. She is like family to my sister Aurora Skye and I. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for this woman for she has always been there for me and I know that no matter what, I can always count on her as much as she can count on me.

When it comes to friends, I have been very blessed in that I have always managed to surround myself with a lot of good people. Today, I just wanted her to know how much I appreciate her and how grateful I am to have someone as special as her in my life. The following poem is dedicated to her and our long-time friendship.

One of my favorite pics taken on Fran's birthday.

Touched

She came into my life,
Goddess-sent from above,
With her kind, caring ways
I was touched by her love

My teacher, my friend
She’s taught me so much,
From her true Wiccan ways
To her soft healing touch

A spirit so strong
A soul with a heart,
She gives of herself
Her knowledge impart

How grateful I am
To know her as such,
And so shall now be
Forever touched

Monday odds 'n' ends

Greetings, friends! As usual the weekend goes by waayyy too quickly! This entire month is going to be horribly busy, but I did manage to get the Halloween/Samhain Tree up ...

Butterscotch and Leo approved ...

Some of the ornaments were ones that I had collected and added to the tree through the years, but most of them I bought a few years back at our local Pier 1 Imports store which, unfortunately, went out of business about two years ago ...

.

Ginger enjoying herself ...

Delicious Pumpkin Cream soda!

Saturday, we took my mom out to the Sinking Spring VFW for a BBQ Chicken Dinner fundraising event ...

The "chick magnet" himself, our veteran friend, Walt who was all decked out for the occasion! lol ...

Have a great day everyone!

Mom's vintage Halloween treasures

.

A couple of years ago, my mom found some of her old vintage Halloween decorations while poking around up in her attic. She had them nicely and neatly tucked away carefully in a plastic storage bag. She asked me if I wanted them. Of course I wanted them! And there they were, wonderful and memorable treasures from my childhood which I hold so near and dear to my heart ...

Along with the other vintage decorations, she also passed on to me "Witchy Poo" ...

When my mom worked at Boscov's Department Store all those many years ago, she bought a witch lamp and every year, she would bring out "Witchy-Poo." My mom actually called her that because at the time the childrens television show, "H.R. Puff 'n' Stuff'" was popular and so was the character of "Witchy-Poo." Anyhow, I inherited Witchy Poo as well so I suppose one could call her the "family witch"?

She also found a couple of my dad's old Army pics from when he was stationed in Italy. I plan on using these pics to display next to our altar for this year's Samhain ...

Miss you each and every day, dad!

Until next time, Brightest Blessings all!!
