Getting ready for Yule

One of the things I love the most about our home is the fact that there are two huge holly bushes out in the front of the house, one on each side. These bushes were already there when we moved in and I thought it fitting for a witch to have holly bushes decorating our front yard all year round. Hollies are very hardy plants and live through every season and the berries have started blooming about a month or so ago.

Every year I use a tiny little branch of the tree to place on my Yule altar in honor of the Holly King. I also make a stop at one of our local nurseries and pick up some mistletoe to represent the Oak King.

I always use the Triple Goddess candles of white, red and black in order to honor Her in her aspects as Maiden, Mother and Crone.

I know that these things are merely tangible symbols of our Goddess and God, but like many of the other tools we sometimes use, they hold a very sacred meaning to me because they help to allow me to feel even closer to our beloved deities.

  1. Oh, I love how your altar looks. The Triple Goddess is very, very special to me. We all are aspects of her throughout our life. It doesn't have to really relate to age but to how we are at the time. I agree with your about the tools...they are a way to help focus on the Divine.....and it's fun also. I do believe our Holy Mother and Father wants us to enjoy our rituals and life in general. But, as usual, I feel we are all on our own path, all leading to the same source so what I feel and believe is my path and everyone else has their own to find and follow.

Love to you dear spirit sister.
Peace and Harmony to ALL !

  2. Artsings ~ I quite agree with you, my sister. The way I see it, in the end, we all come from the same place and are made by the same creator/creators, regardless of whatever faith, religion,or path we choose to follow throughout our lives.

    Love and hugs to you,

    Kim

  7. I agree that your altar is just beautiful. I especially love your Cauldron. Your holly is just so pretty as well. I love that bright red when the earth is so white and gray. I do believe our lady is very prominent with her colors during the winter but those little red berries bring in a touch of the God as well. At least that's how I see it. Brightest Blessings my dear. ~Witchy
