people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people stay for a
while and give us a deeper understanding of what is truly important in
this life. They touch our souls. We gain strength from the footprints
they have left on our hearts and we will never be the same.

Happy Friday, friends! Just this morning while talking to a long-time good friend of mine, I was reminded of something very important. I have always believed that God puts people in our lives for a reason; hence, I have never believed in coincidence. My friend said to me, "I wish I would've met you earlier in life. I'm sure my life would have been very different."
After giving it further thought, it occurred to me that although she may have been right, she and I met one another at exactly the time we were meant to do so at the time in our lives we were supposed to. I have had many "friends" in my life that had come and gone and each and every one of them has remained in my heart. Why? Because they have taught me something about myself and life which I needed to learn.
To this day, I have three close friendships which I cherish and consider them as close to "family" as you could get. After all, I have learned that blood does not always equal family.
When filmmaker Oliver Stone's movie, "JFK" was released in theaters back in 1991, I had little to no interest of going to see it. No particular reason just never thought about it much either way. Then my mom asked me to watch it after she saw it. So, I said to her "okay sure, why not?"
I was surprisingly drawn into this movie from the beginning. Mind you, this film threw so much information at you that I actually had to watch it about three more times in order to digest exactly what was happening throughout. Now, Hollywood loves to take A LOT of liberties with truth in movies and so that alone prompted me to do my own in-depth research via a few books and documentaries.
The movie "JFK" was based on two separate books - "On the Trail of the Assassins" written by Jim Garrison about his extensive investigation on the subject (Jim Garrison was the District Attorney in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1963. He is also the only D.A. to ever try anyone in court for the assassination of John F. Kennedy), and the book "Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy" written by Jim Marrs.

"Mortal Error: The Shot That killed JFK" by Bonar Menninger
Author Bonar Menninger outlining a theory by sharpshooter, gunsmith, and ballistics expert Howard Donahue that a SecretService agent accidentally fired the shot that actually killed President John F. Kennedy.
G. Robert Blakey was the Chief Counsel for the House of Representatives Select Committee on Assassinations, which investigated the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.Blakey was a recognized expert on organized crime and a veteran of underworld investigations.He
was initially optimistic that he would be able to debunk conspiracy
theories, but he became convinced that the mob was involved in the
assassination.Blakey later said that theCIA withheld information from the committee, the WarrenCommission, and the ARRB.He
believed that the CIA set up a process to prevent the committee from
obtaining information that could negatively impact the agency.

I thought perhaps I would share a little something different for a "Food for Thought Friday" post this week as I have not published one for so very long - and this past week I have been re-watching the Oliver Stone movie, "JFK". I included a beautiful figure skating performance of men's Olympic Silver medalist, Paul Wylie's very moving tribute to John F. Kennedy. I hope you enjoy!

Please, don’t look back 5 years from now & have to admit that you spent an entire year of your life wearing a mask, cooped up in your house & avoiding all the people you love. A year in your life that you’ll never get back.
And let me say this, I am not saying this virus isn’t real, or that there aren’t people that could really be affected. If you’re at risk, take precautions, absolutely. Every single day is a risk. Car accident, flu... our days were numbered before this. That has not changed.
BUT, we should not be forced to live in fear. We went from being a free nation to being told we couldn’t go to school, couldn’t go to church, couldn’t go to our grandmamas house, couldn’t pay respects to a loved one through a funeral.... and when we were allowed to do these things, we were told how long we could be there, how far apart we have to be, what to wear...
Yes, our health matters. But you know what else matters? Family. Friends. Church. School dances. Football games. County fairs. Family vacations. Neighborhood BBQs. Life.
One day, you’ll hug your grandma, mom, dad, brother for the last time. One day, your best friend will cry on your shoulder for the last time. One day, your son will play his last football game. One day, your daughter will wear her last prom dress. One day, they’ll have their last day of school. One day, you’ll spend your last day laughing with your Mama. One day, you’ll dance your last dance.
Don’t waste the days you have by living in fear.
Your time here on earth matters & God didn’t put us here to be afraid of everything He’s blessed us with. Live your life while you have the chance. God is gonna call you home when it’s your time. Virus or no virus.
