The last days of December ...

Happy New Year everyone and to the last days of December. And, unfortunately, my time off from having to go back to work! Earlier this week, I met up with my friend, Deb for a nice lunch at Applebees where we exchanged our presents ...

Hempz Herbal Body Moisturizer Holiday Pack: (Sweet Jasmine & Rose, and Vanilla Frost Mountain), Bath & Body Works Hand Soap Christmas Morning, and an Italian Herb & Spatula set ...

A necklace and earring set ...

And, a Christmas Plushy Blanket ... 🎅🎄

🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁

On New Year's Eve, we went to my MIL's house and had some snacks and watched television all evening until the ball dropped. My husband's cousin left a thoughtful box of goodies for my husband and I (and the cats!) ...

Some cool snacks, Bath & Body Works holiday hand soap, three pair of Mermaid Tail Ped Socks (for me), two Holiday scented Wizard votive candles (Pumpkin Spice and Holly Berry), and a pack of jingle ball cat toys for the kitties! ...

As for today,  we are just laying low at home chilling out with the cats for the day. They have already had a head start!

Another New Year's gone by ...

Well, here it is, 2022. The end of one year and the beginning of another. We had a very quiet New Year's weekend. Friday night I picked my mom up and she stayed with us overnight. I made us all dinner ...

Steak with mac 'n' cheese  and grilled chicken with mashed potatoes.

On New Year's Day we joined our good friends at the Sinking Spring VFW where we chilled out and had eaten dinner. My mom had a traditional homemade Pork and Sauerkraut meal and I had homemade Chicken and Dumplings. The decorations were so lovely. I took some pics ...

CHEERS!

Of course, our New Year's Day weather was miserable as it rained ALL day and night and we had quite a bit of fog here in our area. As for tomorrow, well I have some running around I must do and I am also planning on getting together with my friend Kiki (my Goddaughter Kyli's grandmom) for lunch. Then, on Tuesday, sadly it is back to the grind. It will be a VERY busy next two months for me starting with Tuesday morning I must go to a doctor appointment early in the morning before I go to work (sigh). Oh well, such is life, folks!

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year's! ...

(Just a couple of pics I took of Chester on New Year's Day) ...

Just a  bit of humble advice for the New Year ... 💗

The week in a nutshell

Well friends, it is New Year's Eve and my week off from work has sadly come to a close. I had such high hopes to get a lot more done than I had. On Monday, I managed to get the tree taken down in the living room and packed up the ornaments to store back up in the attic. I usually leave the tree up until the week after New Year's but since I will be back to my grueling mandatory overtime hours when we get back this coming week I will have little time for myself to do much else. However, I still left a few winter decorations out and about the house.

On Tuesday, I finally colored my hair - it was much needed. And, after a couple of frustratingly unsuccessful days attempting to find a pet groomer in my area who will actually groom our cat, Lady Tabitha, I was finally able to get an appointment for her on January 10th with the help of my friend, Meg's referral. MANY THANKS to her for saving the day.

Between my husband doing his usual "in and out" of the house routine as always because that is unfortunately the downside to his mobile job and the holiday family commitments, I did not manage to get near the things accomplished this week in the house as I had planned to - oh well, that's life.

On Wednesday, I was in the rare mood to cook dinner and so I made  Chicken Cacciatore with a side of spaghetti. I saved some grilled chicken for Chester, our outside guest who devoured it. I figured it was his early New Year's dinner ...

I did not actually leave the house the entire week except for last night when I met up with my sister Aurora Skye and her hubby for dinner at Flanagan's Pub ...

HAPPY NEW YEAR from all of us!

As for today, I will be cleaning the house and then picking my mom up later on in the day to bring her back to my place to spend New Year's Eve with us and the kitties until tomorrow. We will most likely just be chilling out in the iving room watching "Rocking Eve" or something of the like until the ball drops on Times Square. Nothing very exciting, mind you. As you can see, the cats have a head start on us ...

And last but not least, I figured I would add a Fun Friday vid clip to make you smile! Happy New Year's Eve all - stay safe and warm!

New Year's Eve

Happy New Year's Eve everyone! I don't know about you, but mine will be very low-key indeed. I spent the day with my mom and her dog, Brandi taking pics in front of her 4-foot Christmas Tree as per her request - yes, my mother has another daughter other than me -HER DOG! LOL!

My mom's little table tree which she displays every year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE!

This year, I decided instead of sitting around just watching whatever is on TV I will plug in my Digital Frame which my husband had mounted on our living room wall a few years back (he had given it to me for my birthday one year can't remember WHEN actually) and watch my beautiful fur baby pics I had compiled and saved onto a few camera cards ...
.

UPDATE on the outside kitty: He apparently loves his new heated electric pad which we placed in his IGLOO in front of our garage door. Brett took this pic of him just last night ...

As for tomorrow, well it is off again to my MIL's house for the day - nothing extravagant just cold sandwiches, shrimp, ring bologna and cheese, brownie bites, and other finger foods/snacks.

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!

Friday this and that

Greetings, friends. I hope everyone had a good New Year's. We spent New Year's day having dinner with family. Well, Thursday I had to go back to work so it is now officially the end of my holiday mandatory shut down. I decided to stay home on New Year' Eve and use the time to clean up the house and take down the Yule tree. To be completely honest, New Year's Eve has never been my forte - in fact, it always been very depressing to me anyhow. I mean, let's face it, the song "Alud Lang Syne" is not exactly the most "uplifting" tune in the world or anything. 😕
Moving on, it appears as though we did not get Ginger spay in time and she has now gone into heat. She is scheduled for spay next Tuesday so we called up the vet and he said he will still spay her for us. We are having some financial issues because with my job's two week mandatory shut down over the holidays my paychecks are horrible! I was told that we were supposed to get paid for the week of Christmas but I am short A LOT of money from that paycheck and have to speak to the HR person as to why? Hopefully, we will have enough money to get Ginger spay. We were also told that sometime this summer there will be yet another mandatory shut down that we will NOT get paid for - if this keeps up, I will have no choice but to look for another job part-time somewhere if possible. Having to work a second shift job; however, limits my options to work any part-time job as I would have to work in the morning hours and then when would I have time to sleep?

Keeping fingers crossed and praying it all works out. Have a good weekend everyone.

Odds and ends ...

Greetings, friends! I hope everyone had a great New Year's Day. We ate dinner with relatives at their house and had a delicious homemade family dinner which consisted of all of the traditional Pennsylvania Dutch foods to be eaten every New Year's Day. We had pork and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, apple sauce, and buns. It is believed that pork and sauerkraut brings good luck and good fortune in the months ahead. Part superstition and part tradition, our family has always eaten pork and sauerkraut on New Year's Day.

And, we all ate a sprig (leaf) of spinach for an additional dose of good luck ...
My MIL's dog Tulip enjoyed lounging underneath the Christmas tree while we ate dinner ...

And for dessert, we all had a slice of ice cream cake from Carvel ...
