Getting ready for Canada

Well, we are getting close to our vacation trip to Kingston, Ontario. We will be leaving on Friday morning and spending an entire week in Canada. Should be an interesting trip as my husband is driving us and my in-laws rather than flying there (not sure I like all of that driving, but I am not exactly a fan of flying either!) not to mention that I have never been to Canada before.

Of course, my cat Mr. Midnight is beginning to catch on that we are leaving since I began packing my suitcases last night. He is rather good at making "mommy" feel guilty and has been hiding underneath our sofa instead of hanging around me all night as usual...

Call me crazy, but I worry about him a lot whenever we go away for any length of time. Fortunately, I have a VERY good Cat-sitter who is as crazy about her cats as I am about mine and I trust her implicitly! I know that she will take great care of them and treat them as if they were her own.  And,  thankfully, my sister Robin has also offered to help take care of my furr babies and someone whom I also completely trust with their lives. For that, I am extremely grateful!

Catch up with all of you in a week!!! ;)

"Sisters of the Moon" ~ Stevie Nicks (and some cool pics)

I have had the pleasure of seeing Stevie Nicks perform live many times and she is the real deal. She's beautiful, talented, appreciates her fans like no other ~ the ultimate performer!! This is one of the best video clips I have ever seen of her as actual proof of that. Enjoy!

Intense silence
As she walked in the room
Her black robes trailing
Sister of the moon
And a black widow spider makes
More sound than she
And black moons in those eyes of hers
Made more sense to me
Heavy persuasion
It was hard to breathe
She was dark at the top of the stairs
And she called to me

And so I followed
As friends often do
I cared not for love, nor money
I think she knew
The people, they love her
And still they are the most cruel

She asked me
Be my sister, sister of the moon
Some call her sister of the moon
Some say illusions are her game
Wrap her in velvet
Does anyone, ah, know her name

So we make our choices
When there is no choice
And we listen to their voices
Ignoring our own voice

Craft Names

Craft names. How does one choose one? I can't speak for the majority, but I knew I wanted to choose a craft name which "felt right" to me. A name that fit in along with my life and who I, personally, was.

Like so many other Wiccans, I decided to "borrow" a Goddess or God name out of ancient mythology and I have always loved the Celtic deities (as their stories have always intrigued me).

So how did I come upon the Goddess names, "Caer" and "Morganna?" Well, the name "Caer" comes from Caer Imbormeith, a Celtic swan goddess (pronounced "Ky-air"). The word Caer by itself means, "fortress" and my birth name of Kimberly translates from Old English as, "from the royal fortress."

In Celtic mythology, according to Caer's story, She lived as a swan goddess on the lake "Loch Bel Dragon." Now, I am also a student of astrology (Western and Chinese) and in Chinese astrology, I was born in the Year of the Dragon. Caer is primarily known as the Goddess of Dreams who married Aengus MacOg, the god of young love. Much of my natural  psychic abilities manifest themselves in dream form more than anything else.

Why "Morganna?" In Western astrology, I was born under the water sign of Pisces the Fish. The root word, "mor" means "sea" and in Celtic mythology Morganna was orginally believed to be a sea goddess before she was known as King's Arthur's half-sister, faerie, or sorceress. Even as a child, mermaids have always held a certain fascination for me and so the entire concept really made sense. It was as if it all just came together.

If you should wish to have a craft name,  I think it is really important to choose a name that has a special, personal meaning to you ~ a name which exuberates your soul and embodies who "you" are personally.

Worrying

Ever since I was a small child, I remember always being a big worrier. I worried about this, I worried about that. Now that I am an adult, I just worry about more serious issues. What if I lose my job in this terrible economy? What if we lose the house? What if we can’t afford to pay our ever-increasing (and in my humble opinion disgusting) school taxes? What if the cats get sick while we are on vacation with my in-laws?What if I make the wrong life decisions? The list goes on and on.

“What if’s” can effectively drive you crazy! Yet, my mind refuses to stop thinking about such things ~ both day and night. In my defense; however, a majority of my concerns are, in fact, legitimate. After all, I am the only one in our household currently working a full-time job as my husband is only working part-time and, because of the nature of his job, only some of that time. It is very scary and stressful to say the least when so much of the responsibility is almost solely placed on one person ~ you!

Still, I know that worrying about these things does not change them in the least. I know that sometimes we have to believe that things happen for a reason and have faith that they will work out in the end. Sometimes we must put our trust in others to help us through the bad times. Sometimes faith and trust are all we have to give us the strength we need.

Though, in spite of all life’s little problems or perhaps even because of them, I thank the Lord and Lady almost every single day for the love and support of my family and friends without whom I dare say I do not think I would be able to keep my sanity most days!

Listen

The human heart is the cradle that holds our

dreams, a nurturing place for the spirit. It is the

silver cup from which we taste sweet memories, the

golden bowl that hides our secret loves. It hears the

bell that does not ring, sees the star that never

shines, and knows the words that are left unspoken.
