Serene Saturday: James Taylor ~ Fire and Rain
I have always thought that "Fire and Rain" was James Taylor's best song and, for some strange reason, I can't help but see a 70's version of Kurt Cobain's "MTV Unplugged" here. The slight resemblance in the face, the long hair, the acoustic guitar playing, and of course they both have those Pisces eyes! ^^

I believe this song was written for a young girl who was a friend of James when he was in a mental hospital. She committed suicide, and he wanted to write this song for her.

Yes! It is about his friend Susan who had drug addictions as James once did. They were at Mclean together. It is also about his own Monkey on his back... "Sweet Dreams And Flying Machines In Piece On The Ground" is a reference to the brake up of his band "The Flying Machines".
