This 'n' That

Well, friends last week was quite an "interesting" week to say the least -  Fall flowers from hubby, a concert in Philadelphia, and a flooded basement! ...

Last Saturday night, we had tickets to go see a rock group called, "Cage the Elephant" at The Met in Philadelphia, PA. That morning I had a much needed hair cut and style. THANK YOU SO MUCH, MANDY of "The Girls Hair Studio"!! ... ✀

And now for the bad news, Last Sunday, we began cleaning up our disaster of a garage. Afterwards, I walked into the house and heard gushing water coming from our downstairs basement. I immediately ran downstairs and, to my horror, I saw water literally POURING out of the water filter in my Altar Room! I ran back upstairs and screamed for my husband to "COME QUICK! HURRY!!" The o-ring inside of the filter had broken in half and apparently the filter bottom was thrown to the floor from the water pressure.

The floors were flooded, rugs were drenched, and while my husband ran out to Home Depot to get another water filter I continued to try and clean up - filling bags and bags full of ruined area rugs, soaked boxes that were on the floor - the water even managed to fill my plastic drawers. The following pics were taken AFTER we cleaned up ...

The laundry room was also flooded. These pics were taken two days after we cleaned up as best we could ...

  1. I feel so bad for your water disaster. I went through that last year with a major one in the kitchen. The kitchen ended up basically 'gutted' as all the cabinets and drywall were soaked. The refrigerator was in the living room for a couple of months. No access to the washer/dryer/sink. The water remediation was horrid. Long story short...it took 5 months before the kitchen was back. Thankfully insurance covered most of it as well as eating out. I hope you were able to resolve the issue fairly quickly (not 5 months!).
Benny is SO cute. His bed looks so comfy! The concert looked fun!

    1. Thank you, John. They say water and fire are the worst and as far as I am concerned - they ARE!

A few years back after I got permanently laid off from Travelers Insurance a rusted pipe in my mom's bathroom burst and her entire first floor and basement (kitchen did not get affected somehow - I guess because it did not have a rug in it)? She and her dog had to live with us for about 4 months (with all of our 5 cats) while her floor was torn up, dried out and rugs replaced in the living room, all three bedrooms, hallway, her bathroom floor, and her vanity was also replaced, and the walls were repainted due to water stains. Fortunately, her insurance covered it!

I can definitely relate to the nightmare that you had to endure.

      Take care!! : - )

Oh I can sympathize. I have dealt with multiple flooded basements. It's awful

  3. Oh, my Lady. Having dealt with a flooding basement on multiple occasions, I know what a PITA it is. Looks like you got things under control. I hope you didn't lose too much stuff. Benny looks quite comfy in his new bed.
