We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience

Alternative Medicine (Part Two)

In my previous post, I talked about my dad's experience with alternative medicine when he received Radiofrequency Ablation therapy treatments. My dad was born with genetic heart disease and was also diagnosed with arthritis through out his entire body when he was only in his 40's. As is typically the case, these medical issues had only gotten a lot worse as he got older. For 30-some years he was prescribed the so-called "life saving" medications by his "Specialist" Physicians which only served to take him in the end. Why? Because his kidneys finally failed him after all those years of "life-saving" prescriptions. It may well have begun with his heart disease, but it was not what took his life in the end.

Alternative medicine and therapy treatments such as Reiki, Cold Laser Therapy, and, of course, Radiofrequency Ablation, are not offered by very many conventional doctors, hospitals, and even veterinarians. In my opinion,  the reason for this is simple - it is because there is FAR TOO MUCH money in it to be made for them and Big Pharma to not continue to dispense pills/medications, give shots, and perform abrasive and/or aggressive surgeries. This literally makes me sick to my stomach - seriously folks.

The only reason I even know anything what-so-ever about Cold Laser Therapy is because we had an excellent veterinarian years back who performed this type of therapy on our kitty, Midnight. Does this work well on people as well? Yes! It was actually practiced on humans before it was used on animals.

This past Tuesday, I had my first visit with my mom's Family Practitioner as my former doctor had recently retired. Her name is Dr. Amy Guiles and I was very impressed with her. She is one of those rare doctors who believes in trying alternative solutions to medical problems such as herbal supplements, natural remedies, etc. before shoving unnecessary pills/medications into ones' body ...

She told me, "I am not a fan of dispensing medications without good reason." She further explained to me that she is "not a part of that group of doctors" in as far as like most other doctors would rather just give you pills and/or shots rather than perhaps explore other, possibly better alternatives to those medical issues. In my case, she had suggested some over the counter supplements and natural herbal solutions for my arthritis, and, if they do not work, she assured me that she had "a few other tricks up her sleeve" before prescribing prescription medications. And, in regards to managing my high blood pressure. she instructed me to purchase a Blood Pressure Cuff and to use it daily while keeping a written record. The reason for this is because my blood pressure has been drastically up and down and this will give her an idea of where I stand with it. I will see her again in 11 weeks, but if my blood pressure would happen to be continuously higher than 140 over 90,  I am to inform her immediately. I told her that I completely agree with that plan of action.

Although I realize that not every medical problem can be resolved or managed with natural remedies, as a Wiccan, I strongly believe in going down that road first!

Alternatives to Conventional Medicine (Part One)

For many long years my father had suffered from chronic arthritis pain throughout his entire body. His doctors had tried several different treatments including physical therapy in combination with pain meds.

Until they finally decided to try something different. It is an alternative to conventional methods and is called Radiofrequency Ablation for arthritis pain. It is a procedure which involves using an electrical current by a radio wave to heat up a small area of nerve tissue, thereby decreasing pain signals from that specific area. This procedure is known for producing very good results which typically relieve pain for about 5 or 6 months.

A pic of my dad, Bill and my mom, Elrita taken on Mother's Day 2012

I remember my dad told me that he had noticed immediate results. His appetite had returned and he was able to function much, much better than before. My mom told me that he was doing great! I can't tell you all how happy and relieved that made me! I also continued to give him his reiki treatments as he loved how they relaxed him so.

Sunday odds and ends

Today was my only day off as will be typical for a long, long time. So I spent the day with my mom doing a bit of shopping. On my way to her house, I made a pit stop down the road to "The Mint Leaf" for a couple of items. One of those items was this beautiful gemstone called "Blue Obsidian." The uses for this stone are:

1) It enhances communication and lingual skills.

2) It gives strength and patience.

3) Good for grounding and protection.

For more about Blue Obsidian click on this link: https://www.gemstonist.com/blue-obsidian

We frequented two different Dollar Stores - or should I say $1.25 stores NOW !

Some Spring decorations for the the front yard ...

A pack of fun removable tattoo's ... lol

And a cute St. Patty's Day hair bow ...

Have a good week everyone!

Just a word about my cat blog ...

Greetings, friends! I just wanted to let you know that I am still transitioning my cat blog from the old one to the new one. If you followed my old cat blog, you may notice a few of the same posts are now making their way onto the new one. BUT, I am only re-posting and updating the posts which I feel helpful or relevant to the new blog.

And, of course, I will be publishing some brand new posts in between the updated ones. Naturally, this will take me a lot of time to do. Thank you all and I appreciate all of your patience!

Cat Blog: Take THREE!

Greetings everyone! Yesterday I took a day off from work due to the impending nasty freezing rain we have had here. However, I am stuck working today from 12 to 6. 😒

Anyhow, I took the opportunity to attempt to create another cat blog from the old one that was ruined due to a hacker two years ago! Well, since I am so technologically impaired, I screwed up on the first try (talk about FRUSTRATION after hours of trying to figure it all out!) - I almost totally gave up for good!!

So .... I got myself together and had to start completely from scratch again! But, I think that I have it at least started now - although I still have much to do with it yet. The name has been changed from "The Cat Cottage" ...

to "For the Love of Cats." Here is the blog link if anybody is interested in checking it out ...

P.S. - And, yes, I am aware that this blog post is dated for Friday, BUT it is actually 12:40AM  - gotta love Blogger, eh?)

TBT: Did you know that ...?

It may well have been the movie, "Groundhog Day" starring Bill Murray which made Punxsutawney Phil a public figure in the first place, but it is Phil himself who keeps the fans coming back to Gobbler's Knob every year for more! Not just for a day, but for an entire week-long array of fun and activities for everyone.

The top-hat wearing Inner Circle members feed and take care of Phil and also travel with the prognosticating groundhog throughout Pennsylvania for various engagements. "He's been on television shows in New York City before, but we sometimes have problems with bringing him across state lines. Some states don't want Phil's type brought into their state, we have learned." Says Phil's co-handler John Griffiths, "I always say we're the men behind the hog."
Phil and his 'Inner Circle' member friends keep very busy, not only for annual Groundhog Day festivities, but throughout the year as well ...
Groundhog Club Inner Circle member, Ron Ploucha, pets Punxsutawney Phil while visiting him inside his burrow at the Punxsutawney Library. "Phil's diet consists of various types of lettuce, iron-rich kale, celery and rabbit feed," explained Ploucha. "A special treat for Phil is a honey & oat granola bar. They are hard and crunchy which helps him keep his teeth healthy, sometimes we will even throw in a piece of wood for him to chew on."
Phil's co-handler, John Griffiths has been a member of the Inner Circle since 1999.

There's no manual for becoming a handler for the Seer of Seers. "We go through a very extensive training for this," said Ploucha jokingly. " It's a learn-as-you-go thing, and it takes time to get to know each other and develop trust (with Phil). Everybody smells and sounds different."
Groundhog Club Inner Circle member Ron Ploucha, with co-handler John Griffiths, transports Punxsutawney Phil from a "Meet Phil" event at Punxsutawney High School.
Kids visit with Punxsutawney Phil in the halls of Punxsutawney High School during a youth wrestling match on in Punxsutawney, Pa. "They really see that Phil's not actually a puppet, or just something they saw on television," said Inner Circle member Ron Ploucha. "I get to see the looks on their faces with eyes as big as 50-cent pieces, it's my favorite part about being Phil's handler." While Ploucha appreciates watching kids enjoy Phil, he sometimes gets a little apprehensive when Phil is around large groups of people. "I'm worried that somebody — even though I tell them not to — will come up and put their hands near Phil's face. Sometimes those fingers of theirs looks like carrots to him. It's never happened fortunately, but there can always be a first time, so I am very careful with having him out in the open around people."

So, where did Punxsutawney Phil get his name from? This name is actually the shortened version of his official title which is "Punxsutawney Phil, Seer of Seers, Sage of Sages, Prognosticator of Prognosticators and Weather Prophet Extraordinary." The groundhog got his name from the editor of the The Punxsutawney Spirit newspaper.
