Happy Thursday all! Just a little fun post today before I head off to work for the night. 😍
Trailer for the 2020 Golden Globe winner for Best Picture, "1917"
And just a little follow-up regarding one of my previous posts on movies and the Oscars and such. As you know, I very much enjoyed the movie, "Joker" and was somewhat disappointed that it did not win an Oscar for Best Picture of which it was nominated for. Not to mention it was also nominated for a Golden Globe for the same honor the previous week at the Golden Globes. That particular honor went to the movie, "1917." Now, war movies have never been my thing and I watch very few of them. In fact, the only movie I recall ever going to see in a theater was "Platoon" many years ago. However, I was so curious as to what all of the fuss was about with the movie "1917" that I went with Brett to go see it in the theater last Sunday afternoon. And, after watching only the first half an hour into it, I honestly could see "why" it beat "Joker." As much as Joaquin Phoenix most definitely deserved his Best Actor awards for both Oscar and Golden Globe, I found "1917" to be a pretty impressive movie on many levels. I would certainly recommend it for even someone like me who in general does not usually enjoy war movies and the like.
And speaking of Joaquin Phoenix, his acting awards for his role in "Joker" are not the only accolades he has ever received:

If you are a Game of Thrones fan, you might appreciate this little collectors item - while at one of local liquor stores the other week, I found this decorative bottle put out by Johnnie Walker (Scotch). They had A Song of Fire and also one called A Song of Ice. I actually do not like Scotch, but loved the bottle so I picked it up anyhow ... lol!
Enjoy your day everyone - after an entire day of pouring down rain here yesterday, it is currently bright and sunny (and a bit windy) today!
I'm probably one of the few that thought 1917 was just ok. I thought it was very slow. Love that bottle.
ReplyDelete... and I was surprised at the fact that I actually DID like it as I did. LOL!
DeleteWe've had a lot of rain too!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping by the time we get to April the weather will have improved!
Take care, my good wishes.
All the best Jan
