Art on the Avenue & A Very Special Birthday!

Blessed Sunday all! Yesterday, I had a VERY rare Saturday off from work and was fortunate enough to be able to celebrate my sister's 59th birthday with her. Technically, her birthday was last Sunday, but as time would allow it, we could only get together yesterday.

The weather was gorgeous. After a week of horrid humidity, we had temps in the mid-70's and a nice continuous breeze the entire day! And so, we enjoyed the Annual Art on the Avenue event in West Reading ...

There were so many great sales. We stopped into "Celtic Myth & Moonlight" were I purchased these cool new items ...

Cat earrings ...

Two handmade votive candles ...

Along with a pretty crescent moon with a heart necklace at another vendor who sold hand-crafted jewelry ...

We had a nice lunch at "The West Reading Tavern" then stopped off at our local "Barnes & Noble" Store on the way home where I picked up this 'Game of Thrones' card game on clearance for only $5.00! ...

I had originally planned to bake her a birthday cake, but it FLOPPED horribly! So, I ran out and bought a double chocolate cake instead and added the cake decorations which I had already planned on using. I thought that I would surprise her with the numbers "3" and "9" rather than 59 and add the sign below. While at Michael's Arts & Crafts Store, I also saw a pack of really cool birthday candles that had colored flames ...

Make a wish!

Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention - I also bought a new cat toy for the fur babies. It is a handmade crescent moon catnip toy made with organic catnip - it was hit! ...

Strawberry Super Full Moon!

Last night's Strawberry Super Full Moon as taken with my hubby's aerial camera around 11PM ...

  • The Strawberry Moon meaning is a time of growth and new beginnings. It’s a time to plant the seeds for your dreams and watch them grow into fruition. So whatever your goals are for the coming year, make sure to set your intentions during this spectacular moon phase. The strawberry moon, is especially notable because it's said to bring prosperity.

And who always greets me in our driveway after I return home from work? Why, CHESTER, of course, and he wishes everyone a BLESSED STRAWBERRY SUPER FULL MOON!! ...

We are having a heatwave!

Upon Midsummer’s heady day,
I saw John Barleycorn
Walking proud and tall there
In the sunny, shining morn
His beard was long and golden,
He looked at me and then
He sang, “Blessed Be and Blessed Be
And Blessed Be again!”

Sunday This 'n' That

.

Well, it all started earlier this past week. My husband had been complaining about feeling "dizzy" whenever he stood up or turned his head too quickly. He had noticed it the week before and took a day off from work thinking it was just something strange and would go away. Nope - it didn't. So, he called off of work on Tuesday in order to go to our local "Patient First" to get checked out.

Now, on Tuesday, I had planned to pick up my mom after my work shift at 10:30pm and have her spend the night at my house because she had a doctor appointment at St. Joseph's Hospital early Wednesday morning - which is located directly down the road from my house. Instead, I decided to take my last PTO day from work to make sure that my husband was okay and I picked my mom up a bit earlier. After the Patient First physicians asked questions and took his blood sugar, they diagnosed him with diabetes. They sent him home with two prescriptions - one to help him with his dizziness (Meclizine 25mg) and Metformin HCL 500mg) to help lower his blood sugar. It took a couple of days for the meds to take hold, but at least he can stand okay now without losing his balance! He has a follow-up appointment with Patient First this coming Tuesday and he will also have to call his family physician for continued maintenance.

The strange thing is, I was a borderline diabetic until I lost A LOT of weight and it brought my levels back to normal. He actually was very overweight until he started his current job where he is running around on the road for 8 hours every day and lost A LOT of weight! Apparently, blood sugar levels are VERY touchy and tricky!

At any rate, it was quite a scare!

HAPPY SATURDAY!!

A video WELL WORTH THE WATCH!!! Thank you, Johnny! BTW, there are numerous videos of Johnny Depp sharing his heart and time at The Children's Hospitals. The video I wanted to share with you all here I was not able to because it was off of Facebook and could not find it on YouTube.  Please click on this link:

Weekend happenings ...

Greetings all! Well, it is Memorial Day weekend and a busy one at that. Yesterday, I spent a wonderful, much needed day out and about with my sister Aurora Skye. We had a delicious lunch at a local pub called, "Ganly's" and then frequented some other local stores in our area.

She also surprised me with a couple of very cool gifts ...

A beautiful mermaid coaster ...

and, a fantastic pair of Maneki Neko socks! ("Beckoning Cat")

Last night, I baked a batch of Memorial Day cupcakes to take along today to my husband's cousins house where we were invited (including my mom) for a cookout of sorts ...

Red Velvet with white and blue frosting.

Tomorrow, I plan on spending the day at home cleaning the house and doing some other much needed chores. As far as Memorial Day itself, today before we head out to the cookout, I will be joining my mom in placing flowers and a flag on my dad's gravesite. This is something that she does each and every year since he passed away.
