This weekend was the Annual Fall Fest held in West Reading, PA. It is a huge event where you can enjoy two days of fun. You can explore the many shops and eateries, free live entertainment with several different bands and musicians playing all day along Penn Avenue ("the Ave"), and even dogs on leashes are welcome to enjoy it too. It is a great opportunity to not only see what West Reading has to offer, but to check out the terrific sales being offered as well! ...
My friend Deb and I had lunch at one of the local business' taco stands where we had delicious chicken tacos ...
A friend of ours named Jan was working today and she decided to join us for a quick lunch ...
The only downfall to this day was the ungodly hot and humid weather! Shortly after eating our tacos, Deb felt very sick to her stomach. The heat and humidity was so unbearable we were told by one of the vendors that a young woman just passed out and went down on the side walk from it. The entire summer this year had been unusually very bad and today was no exception. So, we decided to go back home and try coming back later on for dinner when hopefully by then the heat would have died down a bit and we could handle it. Thankfully, it did and we had a bite to eat at Chatty Monks ...
Among the items I took home was a block of delicious Pumpkin Spice Cheddar Cheese made by a Cheese Farm located in Bethlehem, PA and some awesome tasting homemade salsa from another local vendor ...
All in all, a pretty nice day!
Glad your friend was feeling better and you were able to salvage the day. Sounds like a fun time.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that it's still so hot in PA. Here in TN it's STILL raining and a lot cooler. I love pumpkin fests - - and that cheddar-pumpkin cheese sounds great!
