I'm so excited! I just received my CD transfer order in the mail for my all-time favorite Christmas/Holiday album, "A Very Merry Christmas!" This is the album which I spoke about in my earlier post, "Something New for Yule." This album brings back so many great memories for me growing up and it was, and continues to be, my mom's favorite Christmas/Holiday album as well.
It was an old Grant's Department Store collaboration with various singing/pop stars of the 60's including the beautiful, "The Star Carol" as gorgeously sung by Simon & Garfunkel and the cutest version I have ever heard of "Jingle Bells" by Jimmy Dean.
Other songs include:
"The Little Drummer Boy" ~ Ray Conniff & Singers
"Santo Natale" ("Saint Night") ~ Patti Page
"O Holy Night" ~ Johnny Mathis
"We Three Kings of Orient Are" ~ Jimmy Rodgers
"Sweetest Dreams Be Thine" ~ Theodore Bikel & the Pennywhistlers
"The Twelve Days of Christmas" ~ Burl Ives
"Do You Hear What I Hear?" ~ Bobby Vinton
"Der Tag, Der Ist So Freudenreich" and Handel's, "Hallelujah"
Johnny Mathis's version of "O Holy Night" from the CD is incredible!
I would definately recommend this wonderful CD to anyone who enjoys the sounds of the season. I even bought one for my mom!
